Ms. Julia Wagner
Kestrel Mobility
Re: Application for Senior Platform Engineer
Dear Ms. Julia Wagner,
I'm applying for the Senior Platform Engineer role at Kestrel Mobility. Your job post says the team wants to give every product squad a self-service way to ship to production, and that building it is now a priority. I've spent the last two years building that kind of platform, and I'd like to help build yours.
At Streamline Media I'm one of three engineers running the platform for about 60 developers and 90 services on AWS and Kubernetes. When I joined, deployments went through a shared Jenkins server and a weekly release window, and a rollback took most of an afternoon. I moved our pipelines to GitHub Actions with Argo CD, wrote reusable Terraform modules for new services, and added canary releases with automatic rollback on error-rate alerts. Teams now deploy several times a day, a new service goes from repository to production in under an hour, and our mean time to recover from bad releases fell from about three hours to 15 minutes. I also cut our monthly AWS bill by around 22% by right-sizing node groups and moving batch work to spot instances.
I take on-call seriously and write a short, blameless review after every incident. Thank you for considering my application; I'd be glad to talk about your platform plans.
Kind regards,
Lucas Ferreira
