Professional resume templates

Clean, conservative layouts for corporate jobs: a clear header, ruled sections and room for results. They look serious in print and on screen, and they still pass applicant tracking systems.

Best for: Managers, analysts, consultants, finance and operations people, and anyone applying to large companies where the reader expects a traditional resume.

Getting the most from professional templates

  1. 01

Lead with a summary that names your level

Two or three lines: your title, years of experience, and the result you are known for. A hiring manager should know what role you fit before reading a single job.

  2. 02

    Results, not duties

"Managed a team" says little. "Led 8 analysts and cut month-end close from 9 days to 5" is what a professional resume is for. Put a number in most bullets.

  3. 03

    Keep the design quiet

One accent color at most, and only for the name or headings. The reader should notice what you did, not the template.

  4. 04

Two pages is fine with ten years or more

Early career, keep to one page. With a long track record, a second page is normal, as long as the first page carries your strongest and most recent work.

Questions

What is the most professional resume format?
Reverse-chronological: your latest job first, then the ones before it, in a single column with standard headings. It is what recruiters expect and what ATS read best.
Should a professional resume have color?
A little is fine: one dark accent for the name or headings. Keep body text black. Bright colors and graphics suit creative jobs better than corporate ones.
Which template suits a senior or executive role?
Executive or Executive Serif. Both use a centered serif header and strong section rules that read as senior, with plenty of room for a long work history.
