Getting the most from simple templates

  1. 01

    Simple is not empty

A plain layout puts more weight on the words. Make every bullet show a result, and cut anything a recruiter won't care about.

  2. 02

Use white space to group, not to fill

Space between sections helps the eye. If a section looks thin, add a project or a course instead of making the font bigger.

  3. 03

Pick one font and stick to it

A single sans or serif font at 10 to 12 points, with bold only for job titles and headings. Mixing fonts makes a simple resume look unfinished.

Questions

Is a simple resume better?
For most jobs, yes. Recruiters read simple resumes faster and ATS parse them without errors. Save bold designs for creative roles where the resume itself shows your skills.
Are these simple templates free?
You can fill in and design with every template for free, and download your resume as a text file. Downloading it as a PDF, in any template, is part of Pro.
What should a simple resume include?
Your name and contact details, a short summary, work experience with results, education, and skills. Add projects or certifications if they fit the job.
