Fresher resume example

A fresher resume can't lean on work history, so education, projects and internships do the work. Put your strongest proof first, show what you built or achieved in each one, and keep it to a single page.

Why this resume works

  • Every bullet starts with a verb and ends with a result, most with a number.
  • The skills a fresher job post asks for appear in the Skills section and again inside the bullets.
  • A single, standard layout (Harvard) that applicant tracking systems read top to bottom.
  • Standard headings (Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills) so the ATS files each part correctly.

How to write a fresher resume

  1. 01

    Put education first

With no full-time work yet, your degree, college and CGPA or percentage are your strongest credentials. Lead with them.

  2. 02

    Treat projects like jobs

Give each project a name, the tools, and a bullet on what it does and who used it. A live link or GitHub repo makes it real.

  3. 03

    Skip what everyone writes

"Hard-working and passionate" doesn't help. Show it instead: hackathons, clubs you led, things you built in your free time.

  4. 04

One page, tailored to each job

Recruiters spend seconds on fresher resumes. Keep one page and move the most relevant project and skills to the top for each role.

Fresher resume, section by section

Header

Aditya's title is "B.Tech Computer Science Graduate", which is honest and tells the recruiter his degree at once. His GitHub and LinkedIn are in the header because, for a software fresher, code is the closest thing to work experience.

Summary

His summary lists his proof in order of strength: CGPA, an internship, three deployed projects, 400+ LeetCode problems and leading the coding club. It ends with the role he wants. Every claim is something an interviewer can ask about.

Education

For freshers, education goes near the top. Aditya gives his college, degree, year, CGPA and the core subjects recruiters test in interviews (data structures, algorithms, DBMS, operating systems, networks). That's enough; there's no need for every subject.

Internship

He writes his two-month internship like a job: 6 API endpoints in Python and Flask, test coverage raised to 85% with pytest, and 15 bugs fixed through code reviews. Numbers make a short internship look substantial.

Projects

Two projects, each with a result: a campus marketplace that 600 students joined in its first month, and a face recognition attendance system with 94% accuracy that earned an A+. Real users and measured accuracy are what make a student project stand out.

Skills, certifications and achievements

Languages on one line and frameworks and tools on another, then an AWS certification and a hackathon final as team lead. A national hackathon final shows teamwork and pressure, so it gets its own section.

Entry-level to senior fresher resume bullet points

Software developer roles

  • Built an expense tracker in React and Node.js with login and charts; 120 classmates use it.
  • Solved 400+ data structures problems on LeetCode and took part in 30 weekly contests.
  • Got 3 pull requests merged into an open-source Python library's docs and tests.
  • Deployed my final-year project on AWS EC2 with a GitHub Actions pipeline.

Data and analytics roles

  • Analyzed 3 years of public train delay data in Python and pandas and published the findings with charts on GitHub.
  • Built a Power BI dashboard on placement data for the college's training and placement cell.
  • Wrote SQL for 25 practice business questions on a public e-commerce dataset.
  • Trained a model to predict vegetable prices from public mandi data with an 11% average error.

Non-tech roles (sales, operations, support)

  • Raised ₹2.4 lakh in sponsorship for the college tech fest by meeting 60 local businesses.
  • Managed registrations and logistics for a 3-day fest with 4,000 visitors and 25 volunteers.
  • Tutored 12 school students in math for 2 years; all improved their board exam marks.
  • Worked 4 months part-time in chat support for a food delivery app, handling 70 chats a shift.

Mistakes to avoid on a fresher resume

  • Listing the whole syllabus

Every subject from four years of college makes the resume long and says nothing about you. Keep the four or five subjects the job will test, and use the space for projects.

  • Projects with no result or link

"Made a chat application" could be a tutorial copy. Add a link, the number of users, or a measured result like accuracy or speed.

  • Skills you can't defend

C, C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, Go and Kotlin on one fresher resume invites hard questions. List the languages you could write code in during an interview.

  • The declaration at the end

"I hereby declare that the above information is true" and a signature line are still common on Indian resumes, but recruiters don't need them. Use the space for something useful.

Key takeaways

  • Put education and your strongest proof near the top.
  • Write internships and projects like jobs, with numbers.
  • Link code or live projects where you can.
  • Keep it to one page, tailored to each role.

Questions about fresher resumes

What should a fresher put in a resume summary?
Your degree, your strongest proof (an internship, a project, a high CGPA), and the role you want, in 2-3 lines.
Should a fresher include 10th and 12th marks?
Include them if they're strong or if the employer asks, which is common in India for campus hiring. Put them below your degree.
How do I make a resume with no experience?
Use projects, internships, college clubs, hackathons, volunteering and certificates. Each one can have bullets with results, just like a job.
Should a fresher resume have a career objective?
Skip the generic objective. A two or three line summary with your degree, your best project or internship and the role you want does the same job and gives the recruiter something real to read.
How many projects should a fresher list?
Two or three, chosen for how close they are to the job. Give each one a line on what it does, the tools, and a result or a link. Ten small projects make it harder to see the good ones.
Should I add hobbies?
Only if they show something useful, like a chess rating, running a college club, competitive sport or a blog you write. Otherwise leave them off and use the space for projects.
