Frontend Developer resume example

A frontend resume has to prove two things at once: that you write solid JavaScript, and that you care about what users see. Page speed, accessibility and design-system work are the results hiring managers look for.

Why this resume works

  • Every bullet starts with a verb and ends with a result, most with a number.
  • The skills a frontend developer job post asks for appear in the Skills section and again inside the bullets.
  • A single, standard layout (Minimal) that applicant tracking systems read top to bottom.
  • Standard headings (Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills) so the ATS files each part correctly.

How to write a frontend developer resume

  1. 01

Put a portfolio link in the header

For frontend roles, a live link often matters more than the resume itself. Link to a portfolio or two live projects that load fast and work on a phone.

  2. 02

    Quantify user-facing results

Load time, conversion, accessibility score and bundle size are numbers you can measure before and after. They show you think about users, not only code.

  3. 03

Name your framework versions only when it matters

"React" is enough for most posts. Mention Next.js App Router or React Server Components only if the job post does, since they signal recent experience.

  4. 04

    Show you work with designers

Hiring managers want developers who can read a Figma file and push back kindly. One bullet about design-system or designer collaboration covers this.

Frontend Developer resume, section by section

Header with links that work

Add your GitHub, portfolio and LinkedIn next to your phone and email. Frontend hiring managers usually open the portfolio before they finish the resume, so check every link works and the site loads fast on a phone. A slow portfolio undercuts a bullet about performance work.

Summary

Daniel's summary gives his years, his stack (React, TypeScript, Next.js), the kind of work he's known for (components with designers, performance projects) and a result. Two or three lines, matched to the job: if the posting stresses accessibility or design systems, lead with that.

Work experience

The best frontend bullets connect code to something a user or the business noticed: faster pages, fewer errors, higher conversion, an accessibility standard met. Name the framework in the bullet ("rebuilt checkout in Next.js") so the skill shows up where the recruiter reads, not only in the skills list.

Skills

Group them: languages (JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS), frameworks (React, Next.js, Vue), styling (Tailwind, CSS Modules), testing (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright) and tools (Figma, Storybook, Git, Vite). Only list what you'd be happy to be interviewed on.

Projects

For junior developers this is often the most important section. Two or three projects with a live link, the code and one line on what they do beat a long list of tutorial clones. A project with real users or an accepted open-source pull request stands out most.

Education

A degree, a bootcamp or self-taught are all accepted in frontend roles. One line is enough; employers care more about what you've built. Certificates rarely change a decision here, so don't give them much space.

Entry-level to senior frontend developer resume bullet points

Junior (0–2 years)

  • Built 14 reusable React components for the customer dashboard, now used across 3 product pages.
  • Fixed 60+ UI and accessibility bugs reported by QA and users over 9 months.
  • Wrote unit tests with Jest and React Testing Library, raising component coverage from 40% to 75%.
  • Turned Figma designs into responsive pages that work from small phones to wide desktop screens.

Mid-level (3–5 years)

  • Cut Largest Contentful Paint on the product page from 3.8s to 1.9s with code-splitting and image optimization.
  • Led the move of a 40-page app from JavaScript to TypeScript with no production incidents.
  • Built the Next.js checkout used by 25,000 customers a month; conversion rose 6%.
  • Brought the main app up to WCAG 2.1 AA, fixing 120 issues from an external audit.

Senior / lead (6+ years)

  • Own a design system of 80 React components in Storybook, used by 5 product teams.
  • Set the frontend architecture for splitting a monolith into 3 independently deployed apps.
  • Mentor 4 developers, run weekly code reviews, and added performance budgets to CI.
  • Shrank the main JavaScript bundle by 45%, from 1.1 MB to 600 KB, by auditing dependencies.

Mistakes to avoid on a frontend developer resume

  • A "creative" resume layout

Graphics, skill bars and unusual layouts can confuse applicant tracking systems. Keep the resume plain and show your design sense in your portfolio.

  • A skills list of everything

Twenty-five libraries make it hard to see what you're good at. List the tools the job asks for, plus the ones you know deeply.

  • Missing or broken links

A frontend resume without a GitHub or portfolio link raises questions. A link that's broken, or a portfolio that's slow, is worse.

  • What you built, but not what changed

"Built a dashboard in React" is a task. "Built the React dashboard 3,000 support agents use daily, cutting ticket handling time by 20%" is a result.

Key takeaways

  • Link your GitHub and portfolio, and make sure both load fast.
  • Tie your code to user or business results: speed, accessibility, conversion.
  • Name the framework inside each bullet, not only in the skills list.
  • Keep the resume layout plain; let the portfolio show your design skills.

Questions about frontend developer resumes

Should I include a design or a colorful layout as a frontend developer?
Keep the resume itself simple and readable by an ATS. Show your design sense in your portfolio, which the recruiter will open next.
Is it fine to list both React and Vue?
Yes, if you have shipped with both. Put the one the job asks for first, in both your skills and your bullets.
What if my projects are only personal projects?
List them in a Projects section with a live link and one line on what they do and who uses them. Real users, even a few hundred, make a personal project count.
Do I need a portfolio as a frontend developer?
It helps a lot, because hiring managers want to see your work, not just read about it. Two or three live projects are enough if they're fast, accessible and work well on a phone. Link them, and the code, from your resume header.
Should I include Lighthouse scores on my resume?
Before-and-after numbers are good, with context: "raised the product page's Lighthouse performance score from 52 to 91". Real-user numbers, like Core Web Vitals from production or a conversion change, are even stronger if you have them.
