Why this resume works

  • Every bullet starts with a verb and ends with a result, most with a number.
  • The skills an Android developer job post asks for appear in the Skills section and again inside the bullets.
  • A single, standard layout (Left Bar) that applicant tracking systems read top to bottom.
  • Standard headings (Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills) so the ATS files each part correctly.

How to write an Android developer resume

  1. 01

    Link apps people can download

A Play Store link or GitHub repo beats any skill list. Give installs and rating when they're good.

  2. 02

    Show you're current

Kotlin, Compose, Coroutines and Hilt signal a modern codebase. If you've migrated from Java or XML, say so.

  3. 03

    Use app health numbers

Crash-free rate, ANR rate, cold start time and APK size are what Android leads track. One or two of these makes a bullet strong.

  4. 04

    Mention Indian-market problems you solved

Low-end devices, patchy networks, regional languages and UPI. These are real engineering challenges and Indian product companies value them.

Android Developer resume, section by section

Header with links

Arjun links his GitHub, and his open-source app is on Google Play. A hiring manager who can install your app in 30 seconds will often do it, so make sure the link works and the latest version is solid.

Summary

His summary gives the language (Kotlin), the size of the app (8 million installs), the modern stack (Jetpack Compose, MVVM, clean architecture) and a promise backed by his bullets: better crash-free sessions, startup time and ratings on every app he's worked on.

Work experience

His bullets are app health numbers: payment success from 93% to 97.5% after a Compose rebuild, crash-free sessions from 98.1% to 99.7%, cold start from 2.8 to 1.2 seconds, and an APK cut from 42 MB to 26 MB that lifted installs on low-end phones by 11%. Each names the technique too.

Earlier role

The Kirana Connect role shows problems common in Indian apps: offline-first ordering for 30,000 shop owners with Room and WorkManager, and Hindi and Gujarati support that raised day-7 retention from 34% to 45%. If you've solved for patchy networks, cheap phones or local languages, say so.

Projects

A public app with 25,000 downloads and a 4.6 rating is strong proof on its own. List the downloads and rating, and link it.

Skills and certificate

Group Android skills (Kotlin, Compose, coroutines, Flow, Hilt, Room, Retrofit) separately from tools (Android Studio, Firebase, Gradle, Play Console). The Associate Android Developer certificate is a useful extra, mostly for early-career developers.

Entry-level to senior Android developer resume bullet points

Junior Android developer (0–2 years)

  • Built 8 screens in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for a food delivery app's menu and cart.
  • Fixed 40 bugs from Crashlytics and Play Store reviews in my first 6 months.
  • Added push notifications with FCM and deep links that open the right screen.
  • Wrote unit tests with JUnit and MockK for 3 ViewModels.

Android developer (3–5 years)

  • Moved a 60-screen app from XML views to Compose one feature at a time, with no drop in crash-free rate.
  • Built offline sync with Room and WorkManager so field agents can submit forms without a network.
  • Cut ANRs by 70% by moving disk and network work off the main thread with coroutines.
  • Added in-app updates and staged rollouts, catching 2 bad releases at 5% of users.

Senior / lead Android developer (6+ years)

  • Lead 4 Android developers on a super-app with 20 million installs.
  • Split the app into 25 Gradle modules, cutting clean build time from 9 minutes to 4.
  • Set up weekly release trains with automated UI tests on Firebase Test Lab and staged Play rollouts.
  • Wrote the team's architecture guidelines and review checklist for MVVM, Hilt and Compose.

Mistakes to avoid on an Android developer resume

  • No way to see your app

An Android resume without a Play Store link, GitHub or user numbers leaves the reader guessing. Link at least one app people can download.

  • A library list instead of problems solved

Retrofit, Room, Hilt and Glide are on every Android resume. Show what you did with them: offline sync, faster start, fewer crashes.

  • Ignoring low-end phones

Many users in India are on budget phones with limited storage and patchy networks. Work on APK size, memory, offline support and start time is worth showing.

  • Every architecture pattern

"MVVM, MVI, MVP, Clean, VIPER" listed together looks like keyword stuffing. Name the one you use and give an example of how you applied it.

Key takeaways

  • Link apps people can download, with installs and ratings.
  • Use app health numbers: crash-free rate, start time, ANRs, app size.
  • Show modern Android skills like Kotlin, Compose and coroutines.
  • Mention problems you solved for low-end phones, networks or languages.

Questions about Android developer resumes

Should I still list Java for Android jobs?
Yes, after Kotlin. Many large codebases still have Java, and knowing both helps with migration work.
How do I get an Android job with no experience?
Publish 1 or 2 small but complete apps on Google Play, write clean code on GitHub, and list them as projects with downloads and ratings.
Is the Associate Android Developer certificate worth it?
It is a small plus for freshers. Published apps and real code are what interviewers look at.
How do I show work on an app I can't name?
Describe its category and scale instead: "a payments app with 8 million installs" or "a field-sales app used by 4,000 agents". Recruiters understand NDAs; the numbers and your part are what they need.
Do I need Jetpack Compose experience?
Many teams now build new screens in Compose. If you've only used XML views, build a small Compose project or a screen at work, and mention it; it shows you're keeping up.
Should I mention Flutter or Kotlin Multiplatform?
Only if you've shipped something with them. For a native Android role, one line is enough; keep the focus on Kotlin and Android.
