Recruiter resume example

Recruiters are measured on closures, so your resume should read like a scorecard: roles you hire for, positions closed, time to fill and offer acceptance ratio. Say if you work in-house or at a staffing firm, and name your sourcing tools: LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed and Boolean search.

Why this resume works

  • Every bullet starts with a verb and ends with a result, most with a number.
  • The skills a recruiter job post asks for appear in the Skills section and again inside the bullets.
  • A single, standard layout (Nordic) that applicant tracking systems read top to bottom.
  • Standard headings (Summary, Work Experience, Education, Skills) so the ATS files each part correctly.

How to write a recruiter resume

  1. 01

    Write it like a scorecard

Positions closed per month, time to fill, offer acceptance and cost per hire. Recruiting managers hire on these numbers.

  2. 02

    Say what you hire for

Tech, non-tech, call center, sales, executive search. A Java and DevOps recruiter and a high-volume call center recruiter are different jobs, so name your roles.

  3. 03

    In-house or agency: say which

Agency recruiters can add fees billed and clients served; in-house recruiters can add hiring for teams and stakeholder work.

  4. 04

    Show how you handle dropouts

Candidates who accept, then take a counteroffer or stop answering before day one, are a big problem. A bullet on improving offer acceptance or start rates stands out.

Recruiter resume, section by section

Header and title

Name, a title that matches the job (IT Recruiter, Talent Acquisition Specialist, TA Partner), phone, email, city and LinkedIn. In-house teams tend to use "talent acquisition" titles and agencies "recruiter", so mirror the posting.

Summary

Michael's summary names what he hires for (software, cloud and data roles), where he has worked (agency, then in-house), his monthly closures, his offer acceptance rate and his network. Those are the numbers a hiring manager would ask about first.

Work experience

His in-house role reads like a scorecard: 190 engineers hired in 2 years, time to fill from 52 to 34 days, offer acceptance from 68% to 84%, referrals at 31% of hires. The agency role adds closures, $1.8 million in billing, daily screening volume and his rank in the team.

Skills

Split recruiting skills (end-to-end hiring, Boolean search, headhunting, negotiation, offer management) from tools: LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, your ATS, and assessment platforms like HackerRank. Name the ATS you've run; companies like recruiters who can use their system straight away.

Education and certification

One line for your degree; any bachelor's works, and in India an MBA in HR is common but not required. Add a recruiting certificate if you have one, but your numbers matter more.

Length and format

One page. A recruiter's resume is read by people who screen resumes all day, so it should be easy to skim and free of errors.

Entry-level to senior recruiter resume bullet points

Junior recruiter (0–2 years)

  • Sourced and screened 50 profiles a day on Indeed for call center and sales roles.
  • Scheduled 300 interviews a month and kept every candidate updated at each stage.
  • Closed 6 to 8 entry-level positions a month, reaching 110% of my closure target in my first year.
  • Ran 4 open hiring days with more than 150 candidates each.

Recruiter / senior recruiter (3–6 years)

  • Hire for 4 business units, managing 25 open roles at a time with their hiring managers.
  • Built a university hiring program with 12 colleges that brings in 140 graduates a year.
  • Kept cost per hire 20% under budget by moving spend from job portals to referrals and LinkedIn.
  • Introduced interview scorecards that cut hiring manager feedback time from 5 days to 2.

Talent acquisition lead (7+ years)

  • Lead 8 recruiters hiring 600 people a year across tech, sales and operations.
  • Rolled out Greenhouse and a hiring dashboard that gives leaders weekly funnel data.
  • Started engineering blogs and meetups that doubled inbound applications in a year.
  • Negotiate annual terms with 5 staffing partners and track them on speed and quality.

Mistakes to avoid on a recruiter resume

  • Activities instead of closures

"Sourced, screened and scheduled candidates" is the process, not the result. Lead with positions closed, time to fill and the roles you hired for.

  • Leaving out the acceptance rate

Candidates back out between offer and start date, after a counteroffer or during long notice periods in markets like the UK and India, and hiring managers know it. Your offer acceptance rate, and how you improved it, is one of your strongest numbers.

  • Numbers you can't explain

Interviewers will ask how you counted closures or time to fill. Use figures from your ATS or tracker, and be ready to explain the method.

  • Errors on a recruiter's resume

You screen resumes for a living, so typos and inconsistent dates stand out more on yours. Proofread it the way you'd screen a candidate's.

Key takeaways

  • Write it like a scorecard: closures, time to fill and offer acceptance.
  • Say which roles and levels you hire for, and whether in-house or agency.
  • Show how you reduce dropouts between offer and start date.
  • Name your sourcing tools and your ATS.

Questions about recruiter resumes

How do I move from a staffing firm to an in-house recruiter role?
Highlight closures for one or two clients you worked with closely, your stakeholder work with hiring managers, and candidate experience. In-house teams want partnership, not just volume.
Should I list the companies I hired for as an agency recruiter?
You can name clients unless your contract says otherwise. If unsure, describe them: "3 IT services companies and 2 regional banks".
Do recruiters need certifications?
They help but aren't required. A LinkedIn Recruiter certificate or an AIRS sourcing course shows skill; your closure numbers matter more.
How do I become a recruiter with no experience?
Many recruiters start at staffing or RPO firms, where training is structured and volumes are high. On your resume, show anything that proves you can talk to strangers and keep track of numbers: an HR internship, calling work, career fair volunteering or event sign-ups.
Should I put billing figures on an agency recruiter resume?
Yes, if your employer allows it. Billing in dollars shows the commercial value of your work. If you can't share it, use your percentage of target or your rank in the team.
How is a non-IT recruiter resume different?
The scorecard stays the same: closures, time to fill and offer acceptance. Change the detail to your roles, such as sales, healthcare, retail or blue-collar hiring, and show volume drives like open hiring days and bulk hiring for new stores or plants.
